Description   Bakaliaros or Bacalao ( Salted Cod ) Boneless ~1lb Cod price represents price per pound. Cod fish is boneless, arrives in bulk and is uncut - wooden box not included. Prep Directions: All Bakaliaros needs to be refreshed in water for at least 24 hours before use. Change the water three or four times during the process. This removes the salt that has preserved the cod, leaving just a pleasant hint of saltiness for you to enjoy. Once the salted cod is refreshed, it should be cooked in liquid or poached. Salted cod that is in the "refreshing" process can remain in the water for two to three days (in your refrigerator) provided the water is changed daily. BEST BUY November 8, 2009 Reviewer: Peter Kehayes from Washington , DC United States   This Cod is an excellent quality. I have paid much more for cod from Spain - the extra cost is not worth it. The rest of the cod in the US comes from Canada, and I assume this cod is from there as well Cod arrived in a boxed lined with insulation and ice packs. I don't think it needed to be kept cold but its good to see some precaution was taken. Maybe shipping could have been cheaper without all the cold packing. I disagree with the other reviewer. Depending on when its cut, the way christos ships the cod , in full pieces, is much fresher than when sold cut. I would never buy pre cut salt cod off the internet. I don't see what the big deal is about cutting it up yourself and freezing what you don't use for use later. If you don't know how to handle fish, why bother trying to cook it, especially salt cod where there is a process.  I did not find the packaging unprofessional, it arrived in wax paper and in a double bag twist tied, a similar way if you bought it at any fish market Was this review helpful to you?

salted cod November 1, 2009 Reviewer: Stephen Dickerson from Cary, NC United States   The web site would leave you to believe that the product packaging was in 1 lb boxes and so after ordering 3 lbs I expected to receive 3 boxes with the cod. In fact what I received was a 3 lb slab of cod in a plastic bag tied shut with a twist tie. Big disapointment as we only use about 1 lb for a meal. There are other online sites that specify that is how they sell the product. The reason I selected Christos was because the site would lead one to believe that the Cod was packaged in 1 lb packages. We use the cod for creame cod fish on biscuits and only use 1 lb when preparing the meal. The quality of the fish looks good but am extremely disapointed in how it was packages for delivery.
